In recent years some of the fundamental problems of approximation theory have turned out to be the verification of Jackson-,Bernstein-, and Zamansky-type inequalities for particular approximation processes, a study of the comparison of two different processes with respect to their rate of convergence, as well as the associated problems of nonoptimal and optimal (or saturated) approximation for given processes.
