In recent years some of the fundamental problems of approximation theory have turned out to be the verification of Jackson-,Bernstein-,and Zamansky-type inequalities for particular approximation processes, study of the comparison of two different processes with respect to their rate of convergence, as well as the associated problems of non-optimal and optimal (or saturated) approximation for given processes.
