We are reminded of this saying as we reflect on the experiences we had as we conducted our research in the classroom. We are deeply indebted to the 20 children and their teacher who graciously let us become a part of their daily lives as we poked, prodded, and questioned them in an attempt to understand what it was like to be a member of their mathematics class.
