Systematic exposition of the spectral theory of nonselfadjoint operators in finite-dimensional linear spaces is presented. Formulation of the computational problems related to the analysis of the spectrum and brief description of certain algorithms, including some non-standard ones, is given. Examples of operators approximating ordinary and partial differential operators are studied.
