Аннотация:
In a promising field of mathematics, such as Algebraic Geometry, it is not surprising that a mathematician finds himself living in a world which is too small for him. Essentially, each "Foundation" has been built and written for each master's needs, and, as research progresses, it is bound to shackle some mathematicians once it had attracted into the field. As he wrote in his "Foundations of Algebraic Geometry"", Weil had to introduce the new concept of " abstract varieties", in order to carry out his work on Abelian and Jacobian varieties, because the concept of projective varieties, which has been introduced by classical masters seemed inadequate; and, even though it turned out later that Abelian varieties can be embedded into projective spaces, the concept of abstract varieties has done a great deal in Algebraic Geometry.
