The Comitee on the Mathematics and physics of emerging Dynamic Biomedical Imaging was constituted in 1993 and given the charge to "write and report that gives a survey of the emerging contributions of the mathematicial sciences and physics to dynamic biomedical imaging and identifies and recommends specific mathematical sciences and physics research to accelerate the development and implementation of new medical imaging systems".
