This paper gives simple and computationally efficient formulas for the gamma, digamma, and trigamma functions. Section 1.1 provides a historical introduction. The new results then fall into three distinct classes corresponding to §§1.2, 1.3, and 1.4: Stirling inequalities, formulas for the gamma function and its derivatives, and formulas for the digamma and trigamma functions.
