The basic inoompatability of Soviet communism and nationalism and the attempt on tbe part of Communists to utilize various national movements have led to a growing interest In the interaction of both phenomena. If the nature and significance of this conflict are to be understood, it is necessary to study thoroughly the appeal which communism has made by associating itself with national aspirations as well as with a common search for a more equitable social order.
