In 1980, editor and publisher Moshe Y. Sachs set out to create the Worldmark Encyclopedia of the Nations, a new kind of reference work that would view every nation of the world as if through a “world mirror” and not from the perspective of any one country or group of countries. In 1981, a companion volume, the Worldmark Encyclopedia of the States, was introduced.
