This useful little book was written originally in America by Carl Alexander von Volborth and has subsequently appeared in Germany and Denmark, the Danish edition having been extensively adapted and edited by Svcn Tito Achrn and published by Politikens Foriag in 1972.
The present edition is a translation from the Danish, and the English editor has been at pains to preserve the text of the Danish edition, merely making minor amendments where nercssarv for the benefit trf the English .Hid American reader and endeavouring to ensure that the sections relating to English heraldry are in keeping with current heraldic practice as observed at the College of Arms. He does not claim to vouch for the accuracy of every detail, as the work covers a very wide spectrum, but he feels confident that the book will fill an important gap in the literature of heraldry.
