The book is neither a textbook nor a monograph; it is something in-between. And while it may be read by beginners, it is probably best, if the reader has some prior knowledge of thermodynamics. For relief, and to atone for unavoidable technicalities, we have provided an account of the history of thermodynamics which is quite entertaining — at least that is what we think.
Some literature is quoted at the end of the book along with commentaries and annotations.
