In conversation with the volume editors of our series, the idea came up to add a volume containing problems in experimental physics. Discussions with many physicists confirmed the desirability of providing graduate students in physics with problems oriented toward the feasibility, limits of accuracy, and of precision of experiments, the kind of information an experiment is likely to yield, signal-to-noise ratio and expected signal level of the experiment, the general considerations about the design of an experiment, etc.
