Whether done properly or improperly, investing is often the one thing that has the most profound effect on our financial future. To a large degree we are always investing—our time, our effort, and our emotions. When we are able to manage these things efficiently, we tend to be at our best. The perspective we use to filter our judgment colors all that we do in life. As it pertains to our financial lives, our perspective drives our approach to investing and directs the efforts we take to achieve our goals. It is remarkable how little time is dedicated to ensuring the success of such a vital aspect of our lives. Those who treat their investments like orchids, learning how they best grow and tending to them regularly, find that in time they seem to grow rapidly with very little attendance. My goal in writing this book is to share with you a perspective on investing that has proved successful for savvy investors around the globe for many decades.
