This collective monograph, written by well-known East European scientists in the chalcogenide glass field, continues the tradition of Russian scientists from Ioffe’s Physical and Technical Institute (St. Petersburg) who discovered the semiconductor properties of chalcogenide glass in 1955 and initiated fundamental research: chemist N.A. Gorjunova and physicist B.G. Kolomiets.
