Though a wide range of welding processes are now used in manufacturing, say these two Russian civil engineers and specialists in welding and metallurgy, fusion welding is the main technological process. They discuss established regularities that are useful in the development of processes, the role of surface properties and phenomena during the formation of defects, and the role of surface phenomena in welding in outer space.
