User (economics, Queen's U.) introduces his text as an introductory college-level economics textbook that pays somewhat more attention to the institutions of government than standard economic textbooks. Assuming the institutions (and benevolence) of liberal democracy, he devotes chapters to explanations of property rights, market functions, the demand and supply curves, consumer preferences and utility functions, the impact of technology, economic and political associations, definitions of the common good, electoral politics, administration, and the law.
