In an effort to make reported solubility data more reliable by standardizing procedures for determining it experimentally, chemists from Europe, North America, Australia, and Japan gather into a single volume the experimental techniques widely accepted as reliable for measuring solubilities of virtually all kinds. They begin by reviewing briefly the fundamental thermodynamic and kinetic backgrounds needed to understand the solubility phenomena. Then they describe experiments according to whether the solute is gas, liquid, or solid. The final section considers solids and liquids in supercritical fluids and cryogenic liquids, and polymers in liquids.
