It has been common practice to reward candidates who have successfully negotiated a job or a promotion interview with an invitation to attend for a second interview. This was often very similar to the first, though the chances are that the questions would have been more searching, and the candidates would have had to face a panel rather than a single interviewer. Now, however, many organizations have come to realize that such procedures are seriously flawed as a means of recruiting new people, and as a method of selecting employees for promotion or further training.
