The Trade and Development Index (TDI) was introduced in Developing Countries in International Trade 2005 : Trade and Development Index (DCIT-TDI 2005). It is a useful policy assessment and policymaking tool for developing countries as it provides a framework for enhancing the enabling environment for economic and social development, and promoting a mutually beneficial interplay between trade and development in the context of globalization.
