Аннотация:

Mozumder (emeritus, Radiation Laboratory, Department of Chemistry, University of Notre Dame) and Hatano (emeritus, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan) present the latest work on phenomena of ionization and excitation induced by charged particle and photon interactions with matter in vivo and in vitro. The book encompasses radiation and photochemistry as well as radiation physics, biochemistry, and biology, and describes applications in material, environmental, space, and biological science and engineering, food processing, chemical synthesis, and medicine. Early chapters delineate fundamentals of radiation physics and radiation chemistry, and later chapters deal with specific liquid systems, LET effects, and biological and medical consequences of photon and charged-particle irradiation.
