Название: The Hatfield Sct Lunar Atlas

Автор: Cook J.

Аннотация:

Schmitt-Cassegrain Telescopes from all the major manufacturers - Meade, Celestron and many others - reverses the image laterally: that is, objects seen through it appear as ômirror imagesô. Of course, this doesnÆt matter for stars and planets (a star looks the same whether reversed or not!) but that is far from being the case with the Moon, where observers need to recognise surface features. The SCT Lunar Atlas shows the MoonÆs surface (the superb photographs from the Hatfield Photographic Lunar Atlas) and the associated detailed maps exactly as they appear when observed through an SCT. This makes it possible for amateur obersvers to identify craters, mountains, etc.with ease - something that is otherwise almost impossible because of having to visualise how a conventional lunar atlas would look in a mirror! Facing pages provide ÆnormalÆ photographs (the way the Moon looks to the naked eye, but magnified) so that users can also learn the positions of features as they appear in conventional maps. This is a tremendous aid to observing the Moon for anyone who uses one of the worldÆs most popular telescopes!
