Created by Sebastian Bergmann, the author of this book, PHPUnit is an open source framework for test-driven development in any PHP-based code. PHPUnit automates unit testing and reduces the effort required to test code frequently during development. Testing with PHPUnit is a more effective way of checking that your program behaves as expected by using runnable code fragments that automatically test the parts (units) of the software to ensure that they are correct.
