The aim of this educational manual is to acquaint students with major aspects of the history of the English language, the main lines of its development. The whole system of the English language at a particular developmental stage, the evolution of its lexical, morphological, phonological sub-systems and the interrelation between them are covered in the educational manual. The specific features of the development of the language in different historical periods up to a modern stage of its development are revealed. The educational manual includes sets of questions and assignments to test the knowledge so as to ensure a more profound understanding of the history of the English language. It is intended for students of the Faculty of Philology, Literary Studies and World languages.
