In 2015, the UN General Assembly launched the Sustainable Development Goals, successor to the Millennium Development Goals from 2000. Another declaration from the same meeting renewed a set of undertakings, begun in 2003 under the auspices of the International Telecommunications Union and entitled the World Summit on the Information Society.
