The aim of this preface is merely to inform the readers about the circumstances leading to the launching of the project “Ablution, Initiation and Baptism in Antiquity”, to give an account of the development of the work, and to express the editors’ gratitude to everyone involved in the process of bringing it to a fruitful end.
