This volume is based on papers presented at the Sixth International Conference of the Leuven Centre for the Study of the Gospels, Leuven, 15 – 17 December 2016. The idea of the conference was to bring together experts on the early Gospel tradition, especially of the second century, to discuss texts which rely in one or an- other way on earlier Gospels and Gospel traditions and at the same time provide fresh interpretations of the figure of Jesus, his activity and his teaching. The conference as well as the volume with the proceedings of the meeting are intended to contribute to the current debate about the fascinating world of second-century Christianity.
