We wish to thank Barbara Lewandowska-Tomaszczyk (State University of Applied Sciences in Konin) for coming up with the idea of cyclical workshops that bring together researchers interested in the interface of language and emotion – the ‘Language, Heart and Mind’ series of workshops. Similarly, we wish to acknowledge the advice and support on many levels from Marco Venuti (University of Catania) and Francesca Vigo (University of Catania), who have been shaping the ‘Language, Heart and Mind’ project from its very beginning. With high-quality papers, methodologically and disciplinarily varied line-ups as well as remarkable thematic consistency, those meetings have been a great source of insight. Notably, some of the work discussed at the workshop held at the University of Catania in December 2020 is included in the current volume, alongside invited contributions that we were fortunate enough to be able to integrate into this book.
