As series editor of the American Psychological Association’s (APA) division 45 (society for the Psychological study of Culture, Ethnicity, and race) Cultural, racial, and Ethnic Psychology book series, it is my pleasure to introduce another volume in the series: The Cost of Racism for People of Color: Theory, Research, and Practice, edited by Alvin n. Alvarez, Christopher T. H. Liang, and Helen A. neville. This volume is particularly timely, given the contemporary focus on the Black Lives Matter movement in reaction to the police killings of African American civilians in our cities. yet, psychology’s interest in racism has a much longer history.
