Название: Ezra Pound’s Japan
Автор: Ezra Pound’s Japan
Аннотация:
This project began during a two-year Japan Society for the Promotion of Science
(JSPS) fellowship at Tokyo Woman’s Christian University (TWCU). I am
grateful to the JSPS, TWCU, and, in particular, the unfailing patience, kindness,
and dedication of my fellowship mentor, Eiichi Hara. I came to TWCU to study
with David Ewick, undoubtedly the world’s leading expert on the relationships
between Anglophone poetry and Japan; he has been extremely generous in his
lending of countless, often rare, books related to this book’s theme, and I have
benefited greatly from his knowledgeable conversation and everything that
he has done for the study of Pound and Japan. The librarians at TWCU, the
Bodleian Japanese Library, the Beinecke Rare Books and Manuscripts Library,
the Museum of Modern Japanese Literature, the National Diet Library, and the
Museum of Modern Art, Kanagawa and Hayama have always been invaluable
in their assistance. I am also indebted to the many fruitful discussions with the
co-presenters at the Ezra Pound International Conferences and those of the Ezra
Pound Society of Japan. Finally, I would like to thank my wife, Gladys, for her
love and support throughout the writing of this book.
