Students today are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of industry and technology and at the same time increasingly critical of some of its effects on our environment and related lifestyle. The professional person who is often either directly or indirectly involved in finding solutions to many current controversies and problems is the engineer, whether he is working in the civil, mechanical, aeronautical, marine or electrical fields. Consequently, it was thought necessary to develop a course at senior high school level in which some aspects of engineering and its impact upon society could be explored.
