Аннотация:
Georgi Mihailov published his book "La langue des inscriptions grecques en Bulgarie (ponetique et morphologie)" in 1943 before the edition of /nscriptiones Graecae in Bulgaria repertae. He investigated epigraphic monuments from Bulgaria as well as from territories which are not included within its contemporary boundaries - for instance, inscriptions coming from lstros and Kallatis (nowadays in Rumania), from Hadrianopolis (today in Turkey), and from Maronea (in Greece). In addition to lapidary texts the author scrutinized coins' legends, amphora stamps, and bricks. One of the biggest difficulties in consulting this useful, for its time, book is the identification and verification of inscriptional evidence. The epigraphic publications used in this study spread over numerous old reviews and books, which are often out of reach. Moreover, the settlements where the inscriptions were found are difficult to identify on the map because of their changed names. A more severe problem arises when the instances illustrating a given phonemic phenomenon nowadays have a different reading in IGBulg.
All the above considerations make the writing of an updated grammar of Greek inscriptions in Bulgaria one of most important tasks for Bulgarian classicists. All the more that Georgi Mihailov laid the ground work in investigating the epigraphic evidence in Bulgaria by editing his colossal corpus Jnscriptiones Graecae in Bulgaria repertae.
