In my earlier venture ‘Raw Cotton and Blow Room’ I made sincere efforts to provide very useful and valuable basic information to the student community in India. Being a teacher, my intentions were to provide all possible information to give them a thorough knowledge of the process as in a classroom session based on their syllabus.
I received an overwhelming response from the students from different parts of the country. The students found the information explained in a very lucid way. They were able to understand almost all the technical data as if it was taught to them in the class. This, I feel, is the success of my efforts.
Over the years, technology has rapidly changed. In this book, while retaining some basics, I have tried to rehash the form to keep pace with time and changing technology. Thus, the chapter on modern blow room and related concept in implementing the modern techniques in processing cotton through blow room have been incorporated in this book. The machines in modern blow room sequence have adopted these research guidelines and, thus, the modern blow room line sequence has not only been automated but also much shortened. This, therefore, has substantially reduced the potential danger of over-beating and over-treating the cotton. The modern cleaning devices are now referred to as opening devices, which have the advantage of using this intensive opening for cleaning the cotton material in the same machines itself.
