The framework of the unit consists of three pairs of reciprocal exhortations. In each case the content of the exhortation deals with the proper kind of at- titude (or action) which should be expressed toward the opposite member of the pair. In eac11 case the first member addressed is exhorted to submission or obedience toward the opposite member. Furthermore, the relationships are arranged in their most natural order beginning with the closest relationship - that between wife and husband - and ending with the relationship between jlave and master.
