Название: Spanish Literature: A Very Short Introduction
Автор: Jo Labanyi
Аннотация:
In writing this book, I have drawn on the work of many wonderful
scholars. Since the format of the series precludes footnotes, I give a
collective thank you here. Particularly useful critical texts in
English are listed under Further reading. My special thanks go to
two interlocutors whose conversation over the years has done
much to shape my ideas: my colleague at New York University,
Georgina Dopico-Black, whose suggestions for reading for the
medieval and early modern periods made this book possible; and
Elena Delgado, my co-author for a forthcoming project on the
cultural history of modern Spanish literature. Xulia Santiso,
director of the Casa-Museo Emilia Pardo Baza´n in Corunna, and
Rosa Marı´a Pereda, director of the Casa-Museo Benito Pe´rez
Galdo´s in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, went out of their way to
provide me with material. Alberto Egea Ferna´ndez-Montesinos
worked magic to get me access to Lorca’s three house-museums in
the course of one day. I thank Marı´a Jose´ Merlo Calvente for her
individual tour of the Casa-Museo Federico Garcı´a Lorca at the
Huerta de San Vicente, and Leonardo Dı´az Medina and Jose´ Pe´rez
Rodrı´guez, director and guide of the Casa-Museo Federico Garcı´a
Lorca at Valderrubio, for devoting several hours to me; both visits
were memorable. My thanks go also to Emma Marchant for her
editorial guidance and to Julia Engelhardt for obtaining images
and copyright clearance. I am especially indebted to the
anonymous publisher’s reader whose nuanced suggestions for
medieval literature have made this a much better book.
