Название: Microcontinuum Field Theories
Автор: A. Cemal Eringen
Аннотация:
This two-volume work is devoted to the development of the microcontin-
uum field theories for material bodies that possess inner structures that can
deform and interact with mechanical and elecromagnetic (E-M) fields. The
terminology microcontinuum field theories is used here to denote theories of
micromorphic, micro stretch, and micropolar CM) continua (solids, fluids,
E-M) that were introduced by the author. These theories constitute
logical and systematic extensions of the classical field theories (elasticity, fluid
dynamics, E-M theory) covering a much broader scope of important
physical phenomena, beyond those of classical field theories. The significance of
these theories has been demonstrated amply by the thousands of papers
published during the last three decades, covering the applications of these
theories to a variety of different fields of physics and engineering. Yet there
is much that remains to be done, both on mathematical grounds and with
applications. Two centuries of continuing research in classical field theories
can provide a dramatic demonstration of the scope of the future research
work left in these promising fields.
