The purpose of these notes is to give a classification of all consistent supergravity theories in four dimensions, starting from as few assumptions as possible. The only known theories that are not included are the ofF-shell Poincare supergravities with central charges or with an infinite number of auxiliary fields. Although most of the results are well known, it should be useful to have a coherent survey without too many loose ends. The reader will find a first orientation in Chapters 1 and 10.
