In recent philosophy the term 'physicalism' has been used both in
broader and in more restricted senses. According to the broadest
current sense it designates any form of materialism: the upshot
of this is that it is the name for any form of materialism that is
nowadays fashionable. In its restricted sense it is a particular species of materialism, and does not include all the current theories.
