Over the last few years, computerised equipment has moved away from being merely a specialist tool to one which encroaches upon all members of society.
This proliferation of modern technology in the developed nations has been
widely publicised and is a result of economic and, in some instances, military
influence. It is now time for those who operate this technology and those who
are affected by it to exert influence and control over its deployment. This will
only be achieved if a mutual understanding is reached between the technician
and the consumer in order to determine the criteria by which the effects of such
technologies can be assessed.
