The Task Force for Central and Eastern Europe is a working team within the
Department for Environmental Research and Development of the Italian Ministry
for the Environment, Land and Sea (IMELS). Firstly instituted in Belgrade in 2004
and subsequently moved to Rome, it develops and coordinates the activity of bilateral
cooperation for environmental protection with the support of both Italian and
local legal and technical experts. It has been established to create a geopolitical
network in Central Eastern Europe in the environmental field. In particular, it
focuses on the Balkan area promoting bilateral cooperation initiatives to encourage
political and environmental dialogue.
