Euphausiids and mysids are linked together historically because of
mperficial similarities-they were originally known as the
Schizopoda. The euphausiids, however, are now recognized as
decapod and the mysids as peracarid crustaceans. This early linkage
of the two Orders has resulted in a continuing interest in both of them
by modern workers. This volume should encourage the dual interest
which has benefited earlier work and will be of considerable
advantage in the future
