This review centers on the stereochemical effect of introducing bidentate
chelate rings into the coordination sphere of six-coordinate complexes. It
seems hardly necessary to state that such complexes have occupied the
central position in the development of coordination chemistry since the time
of Werner. Experimental and theoretical results over the last five years,
however, have significantly added to our understanding of this subject.
