Аннотация:
Since the inception of the object and the subject area of computer algebra,
from the 1960s, German scientists have played an important, and in some areas
decisive, role in the development of this area of mathematics and computer science.
For example, R¨udiger Loos (University of Karlsruhe and then University
of T¨ubingen) is one of the pioneers of the development of algorithmic and software
methods of computer algebra; together with Bruno Buchberger and George
Collins he produced the first monograph in the world that covered the main areas
of computer algebra [Buchberger, B., Collins, G.E., Loos, R. (eds.), Computer
Algebra. Symbolic and Algebraic Computation. Springer-Verlag 1982]. This book
(translated into Russian in 1986, driven by the rapid growth of interest in computer
algebra in the USSR) included four chapters written by R. Loos, two of
which were co-authored with B. Buchberger and G. Collins.
