This book is about dispersing. It had its inception in a set of lectures’ given at the Latin-American School of Physics nine years ago. The aim was to provide an introduction to dispersion relations by explaining their physical and mathematical basis in the simplest possible context, beginning with classical fields and then going over to nonrelativistic quantum scattering. While this aim has been preserved, the original lecture notes have grown into a monograph.
