The idea of creating this monograph was conceived when the authors collaborated on modeling of lubricant degradation. We considered that lubricant degradation is just one element in a series of inter-related research areas in tribology ranging from modeling of dry and lubricated contacts to fracture mechanics and contact fatigue.
