We demonstrate that the Q matrix introduced in Baxter’s 1972 solution of the ightvertexmodelhassomeeigenvectorswhicharenoteigenvectorsofthespin reflection operator and conjecture a new functional equation for Q(v) which both contains the Bethe equation that gives the eigenvalues of the transfer
matrixandcomputesthedegeneraciesoftheseeigenvalues.
