I am what is called a mathematical physic&t. I take this to mean the utilization of and sometimes the attendant construction of mathematics in a context posed by physical reality. Now I suppose that statement would fail
to distinguish mathematical physics from mathematics or from physics; after all, numbers and geometry, the stuff at the core of all mathematics, have been abstracted from the context of the physical world...
