The RC5 encryption algorithm was designed by Professor Ronald Rivest of MIT and first published in December 1994 [17]. Since its publication, RC5 has attracted the attention of many researchers in the cryptographic community in eorts to accurately assess the security oered. In this report, we will focus our discussions on the security of RC5 against dierential and linear cryptanalysis, but we will also give a brief summary of other known cryptanalytic results on RC5.
