The book does a very good job of organizing and explaining the richness of database concepts and techniques and can become a major reference source for understanding spatial database methods and applications. The material is presented in sufficient depth to use the book either as a reference source for professionals or as textbook for an advanced undergraduate/graduate course. There are many innovative chapters such as 5, 6, 7, 8, 11 and 12, which set this book apart from other books. Overall, the book does seem to be a better approach than what has been offered thus far.
