This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Advanced Concepts for Intelligent Vision Systems, ACIVS 2006, held in Antwerp, Belgium in September 2006.

The 45 revised full papers and 65 revised poster papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from around 242 submissions.
